Just south of Waterville, Co Kerry, visible on the top of a small hill from the main road is the Eightercua Stone Row; dating, it is thought, from the Bronze Age. In Irish mythology the stones mark the burial place of Sceine, the wife of Amergin. Beyond the stones in the rich evening light is Lough Currane and the mountains of the Ring of Kerry. Behind us Ballinskelligs Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. Those Bronze Age people knew how to pick the best spots.
